Our Programs

MENTORING - All youth have potential, but oftentimes they need guidance to maximize it.  During recent times, it has become increasingly more difficult for threat-risk child to succeed academically and avoid becoming involved in crime, drugs, sex, or violence.  Our mentors help make the difference by guiding these youth to make healthier choices.

FINANCE ACADEMY - Students learn foundational principles for setting priorities in a budget, controlling debt, the importance of maintaining good credit and how to achieve a desired score, renting versus owning a house and car as it relates to wealth, and banking and saving basics.  Students may also be introduced to the basics of investing in stocks, mutual funds, and bonds as appropriate.

CAREER INSTITUTE -Youth learn that selecting an occupation begins before you receive technical or professional training. In fact, youth are taught that they should begin taking courses and participating in service activities related to that profession as early as middle school. Upon exploring skills and interest with youth, they are assisted with developing a career goal and objectives to achieve that goal.

BOOK CLUB -We use a thematic approach via books to discuss issues such as drug abuse or overcoming adversity.  Youth are able to understand why they should not take certain paths in life as they ultimately lead to self-destruction. Youth are also inspired to rise above dysfunctional environments through characters who they can relate to.
Prevention Education -Youth engage in role plays, games, discussions, etc. on the consequences of hate and gang violence, drinking or using drugs, media, peers and the internal pressures to use illegal substances and how to resist them, the benefits of not using or engaging in premarital sex, sex and teen pregnancy, sex and STDs, and how to say “no” to sexual advances.

LIFE SKILLS -Youth engage in role plays, games, discussions, etc. on making healthy decisions, coping with anger, conflict resolution, being assertive but not aggressive, coping with anxiety, how to effectively communicate, and the importance of tolerance.

ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES - Participants visit local establishments throughout the Metro Atlanta area to further strengthen the bond of youth matched with a volunteer and to increase educational and cultural insight.
