The GEMS Project is to mentor youth by promoting healthy and prosperous lifestyles via prevention programs in the area of drug and substance abuse, gang violence, mental and physical health, and enrichment programs for character education, social, career, and financial development.
-To decrease the likelihood that youth will use drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol, or engage in premarital sex, gang, and domestic violence
-To encourage students to improve their grades and school attendance during and after their involvement in the program
-To expose youth to enrichment activities that will facilitate social, career, and financial development
-To provide opportunities for youth with dysfunctional thought processes to reshape their pattern of thinking
-To sustain mentor-mentee relationships for at least 1 year
-To increase partnerships with local schools, churches, parents, mentors, businesses, and professional, and civic organizations.
